The history of the brand

Born to build

Away from screens and in as responsible an approach as possible, we offer objects that have meaning. Cultural games and manual activities that allow you to learn while having fun.

We design beautiful, ethical products with that little something extra making them so special. After several years dedicated to promoting the culture of architecture, Cinqpoints is now dedicated to cultural and creative gifts: culture and creation are also among our favorite words!

Carefully selected materials, design and production elaborated with the greatest attention are an integral part of our creative process. Our goal for the coming years is to further improve manufacturing and optimize transport to offer increasingly respectful collections.

Our story

Architecture as a starting point

I am Laurence Calafat, I am an architect, mother of two children and I created Cinqpoints 10 years ago. The initial desire was to democratize the culture and professions of architecture to the widest possible audience. The idea came to me during a presentation of my profession to my son's class, then aged 8. Noting that none of his classmates were able to name an architect, while he managed to do so for artists and even designers, I realized that children and many adults know architecture but not architects. The idea of responding to this observation through play was born. I then started the drawings of our first game of 7 families, Iconic Architecture. Once the game was finished, I tried to have it published by publishing houses but when they refused, I decided to self-publish it. Cinqpoints was born.

So why Cinqpoints?

Then we had to find a name for this small publishing house, architecture being the basis of this project which was not one at the beginning, I thought that a nod to modern architecture and one of its most symbolic figures would be a good idea. Cinqpoints: like the five points of modern architecture defined by Le Corbusier, nothing less ;)

Like any project, that of Cinqpoints has evolved and gradually opened up. First to children and then to cultural fields close to architecture such as art, heritage or design.

I don't know what Cinqpoints will be in five years, but it will always be about culture and play. Like Alvar Aalto, I suggest: Don't forget to play!

The game as a link

Play is undoubtedly the best vehicle for learning, discovery and sharing. Playing brings people together, playing offers suspended time, and allows exchange between generations.

Then the hand as a common denominator

As an architect, I have always used the model as a tool and support for creation and reflection. The model, origami, huts allow you to build. In my eyes, the transition from 2D to 3D is always a magical moment.

Work hard, play harder

Our values

01

Do your best

As product creators, we have a responsibility to our customers, to whom we must offer useful and well-made products, but also to the planet. It is important that our creations are as respectful as possible. We try to offer collections of non-gendered, inclusive and timeless objects whose manufacturing, mode of transport and composition are as thoughtful as possible.
Our products are made from FSC certified paper and are not laminated where possible.

Our process is underway and we are providing you with a current vision of it. We are working in the hope of improving it and we will be delighted and proud to share our progress with you as we go along.

Together, let's do our best!

02

Make sense

We are not inventing anything, except perhaps a pop vision of the paper experience.
We offer products that make sense. That can be given, shared, kept and even collected.
Our cultural and creative collections allow you to discover or remember a moment, a trip, an exhibition, an emotion, encourage time spent without screens, time for yourself, with family or friends.
We don't claim to make geometry in space easier, but more fun, that's within our capabilities!

03

Do it yourself

What could be more satisfying than making your own gifts and decorative items? With our collection of creative and manual activities, we offer the pleasure, pride and joy of doing it yourself.
With our DIY kits we lay the foundations and let you choose whether or not to personalize, to add your personal touch, your message, your favorite colors and details, to please him or to please yourself.

04

Doing together

Our objects are designed to promote moments of relaxation, creativity and conviviality (slow time). Whether it is a game of 7 families or the construction of a papercraft with friends, children or grandchildren, everything is designed for sharing and disconnected time.

Our team

Cinqpoints is a structure on a human scale in which the skills of each and every one are important. Our backgrounds are very different and that is precisely what enriches us. We have in common creativity, curiosity, a taste for culture and good humor. Our papergang starts here, with us!

Laurence

Architect and founder of the brand, Laurence designs all of our projects in close collaboration with Jessica, Camille and trusted external stakeholders. She pays equal attention to the content and the form because the choice of a paper, a color or a font is almost as important as the subject itself. God is in the details is one of her favorite phrases.
Distinguishing features: Loves color but only wears black or white. Has 1000 ideas per second and has a passion for dark chocolate and Serbian tennis players.

Jessica

Art historian, after studying at the École du Louvre she moved into the publishing of art books. After working in Vietnam, Australia, and Paris, she settled in Montpellier, which she will never, ever, ever leave again.
Distinguishing features: A true Auvergne native, she loves cheese! But also painting, traveling and massages. Doesn't like Thursdays and Serbian tennis players at all.

Camille

Graphic designer and studies artistic direction in Montpellier. She does a work-study program for two years at Cinqpoints. She creates, draws, illustrates, lays out, photographs and, just like Jessica, is a real Swiss army knife.
Distinguishing features: Absorbs Laurence's 1000 ideas per second and remains calm in all circumstances. Is an expert in chocolate marble cakes and plants but doesn't know any Serbian, Italian or even Spanish tennis players.
